Logon not possible (Error in license check)

Hi,

I am a SDN subscriber and successfully installed SAP Netweaver 7.0 SR3 on Solaris 10/08 oracle 10.2.0.4 database.

Got the new license key file (Digitally-Signed License Key) and successfully installed with user sap*.

But when I logon with newly created user it gives an error "Logon not possible (Error in license check)"

I tried following but did not work out.

-- Reinstall license key twice and show license installed successfully.

-- Cannot install license from command prompt (saplicense -install -ifile=filename.txt) it gives an error "license key file is digital" try installing by login to system".

-- Tried to recreate another user same problem.

-- was able to logon with temp license but once temp license deleted cannot logon with new permenent license.

-- only one user sap* can logon.

-- SLICENSE shows license in database with staus "Green"

-- Harware key, installation number verified. seems ok.

-- When I am trying to install temp license it gives an error message " There is a permenent license key for "NetWeaver_ORA" in the system but it has never been checked successfully. In this situation a temporary license key must not be installed.

If anyone had similer problem and found the solution please post it. would be appreciated for the solution.

Thanks

Heterogeneous System Copy on PI 7.3

Hello,

I have a PI 7.3 SP7 System running with Oracle on RHEL5. I need to install the latest SPS and therefore I have to do a

OS-Migration to RHEL6, because of a new glibc version used in the SAP-Kernel.

All I ever knew or heard of OS-Migrations was "Use sapinst, do system-copy, easy....as click - click"

Then I found the "System Copy Guide Document version: 1.6 – 2014-07-07 for PI 7.1 to 7.4"

https://websmp101.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001324472012E

And now, things doesn' look easy anymore....

First question: Is this the right Guide for my system environment ?

Second question : Is there an "easy" Guide or a howto ?

In my opinion I'm faster if I do a clean fresh install....instead of a system-copy...

Bad performance for DB2 during R3load export

$

0

The below is the background and analysis detail regarding this performance issue.

SB1 Unicode Conversion will be done by SAP tools R3load, which means using R3load to export the whole database to filesystem and import them into new SB1 at la later time.

Currently, R3load-Export has run for the long time and not finished yet.

In SB1 database, there’s a table /BIC/B0000452000 with around 550GB which is a one of the lastest table. So performance optimization on this table must be taken to speed up the R3load process.

Here’s the steps I have taken on optimization for this table.

  • Using R3load to split this table into 550 packages(1 GB for each package) which is standard optimization method. And then set number of parallel processes to 30 which means 30 R3load processes are running in parallel and each process for each package.

  • Due to the table /BIC/B0000452000 was split into many packages according to WHERE condition with column "RECORD", so one index must be created on this column to improve performance for SELECT statement. You can see below, the index is being used and worked correctly.

After above optimization, I am sure the R3load should be benefit of it just like what I did before. But it is not the case, below is the analysis result.

I run the command "db2 get snapshot for application agentid 5079 | grep -i rows" (only for 1 package) one time each second to observe the result

db2 get snapshot for application agentid 5079 | grep -i rows

As you can see, the line "Rows selected" changed only a few hundreds each time which is too slow. For other tables, when I do this test, it is by tens of thousands of each!

Please have a look, if some optimization can be done on DB2 level and let me know if you have any question.

Rerunning SGEN for CRM

$

Hi all,

I would like to get idea regarding rerunning SGEN in our CRM system. We upgraded our pre-production system, and run SGEN after the upgrade. Run completed, however, runs for about 83 hours.

We will run the same upgrade in our production CRM next month. The 83 hours runtime translates to about 3.5 days the SGEN is running. Meaning 3.5 days users will encounter their transactions will load in the first instance they executes it. Non technical users will see it as system performance, and could cause so much noise in the business.

We are looking at rerunning SGEN on the system to see if this time, the runtime will be faster, so that we can get a much shorter benchmark.

If we do such, can anybody suggest how can we ensure that it will really repeat the regeneration of loads?

Also, can anyone suggest further optimization activity when running SGEN?

We would appreciate your response for inputs. Thanks.

Philip

BEx query needs to count unique characteristic values

Is there any way to build a query using BEx query designer to count the number of unique values of a characteristic.  For instance, my cube has detailed transactions for claim information.  Each claim number can have multiple products.  My query need to show the number of claims that exist for each product.  I don't want the detail of the claim number, just how many claims exist.

In this paper we will describe a flexible yet simple to use solution for using comments in BEx Web Applications. This is an updated and improved version of the existing How to Paper. We have eliminated most of the restrictions for the query.

In my Source system(Production) for /oracle/EPE/sapdata2 used space is only 97 GB and

In my target system /oracle/SBX/sapdata2 allocated space is 132 GB  then why it is asking for 95345.757 MB?

WHY Target  /oracle/SBX/sapdata2 is showing more files than the present in source /oracle/EPE/sapdata2 while all the files had been removed before

running the command brrestore -m full -b beieghis.aft -c  ?

How to change hostname on NetWeaver 2004s NW (Win2k3 + MSSQL)

Hi,

I'm a Virtualization expert @SAP IT. I was aked to provide a solution for hostname change process for cloned virtual machines. Here, i'm posting my solution but use it on your own risk and sideeffects can appear too (applicable to NW 2004s - don't know about side effects till now).

1. Change your hostname to a new one  (newsid for clonned) and stop SAP services with prefix SAPXYZ_AB

2. open the c:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file and add your previous hostname at the end of 127.0.0.1 line:

    127.0.0.1       localhost      youroldhostname

3. Use sql enterprise manager (or other SQL tool) in order to connect NW's database.

4. NW's database is a database with a SAP systemID - XYZ and locate J2EE_CONFIGENTRY table

5. Open a query window and check the following SQL Query for previous appearances of your hostname

SELECT     *

FROM        J2EE_CONFIGENTRY

WHERE     (UPPER(VSTR) = 'YOUROLDHOSTNAME-WITH-CAPITAL-LETTERS')

6. If this query returns results - run the following SQL update command

UPDATE    J2EE_CONFIGENTRY

SET              VSTR = 'NEWHOSTNAME'

WHERE     (UPPER(VSTR) = 'YOUROLDHOSTNAME-WITH-CAPITAL-LETTERS')

7. if step 5 failed try to run query w/oout where statement

how to exclude S/W component during upgrade using SUM

Hi All,

We are upgrading our pre-production PI system. This also serves rehearsal upgrade that we will also perform for the production system.

During Configuration roadmap steps, the SUM process stopped due to error occurred during the execution of the "Show validation result" step... message below.

Jul 28, 2014 10:00:19 PM [Error ]: The following problem has occurred during step execution: com.sap.sdt.util.diag.DiagException: Validation of deployment queue completed with error: The stack does not match the system. Probably the system was

changed after the stack was generated. Synchronize the system with SAP Solution Manager and then generate a new stack.

Software component seeburger.com/AS2Adapter is found on the system but not in the list of expected system components in the stack.

SUM_Error.jpg

The stack xml file we are using during this upgrade is a converted copy of the stack xml generated during the upgrade of dev system. This same stack xml file was working when we applied the update in QAS. We used the report RPT_MOPZ_COPY_STACK_XML to convert the stack xml file.

May we ask if there is a way to exclude the component mentioned in the message so that we can still use the stack xml file, thus, we can ensure that the systems are aligned in terms of the version of the components.

We would appreciate your response for inputs. Thanks.

Regards,

Philip
