Hello,
I'm trying to prepare for a system copy of our ECC 6 EHP6 system from PR1 to our sandbox. On first try we ran into an issue with the saptools piece so I'm backing up a few steps to better understand our landscape.
As I mentioned we have ECC6 EhP6. It was recently updated from EhP4. During that period the Solution Manager was also updated to 7.1. (new install replacing previous 7.0). Windows 2008 R2 SQL Server 2008 R2 platform.
What I'm failing to understand with this new version is that the Database manager pieces was installed and with that each of the systems now has a DAA instance which is Java. I believe this is associated with E2E and the database manager product.
In the sapmmc I see 2 SAP Systems: DAA and TS1 (as opposed to what I'd expect from a dual stack where the system TS1 would include the ABAP instance and the java instance.
Also previously our databases where simple databases with 1 schema, the instance schema. Now we have in the same SQL database (TS1 for example) 2 schemas. The TS1 schema and a new one that is called SAPMonitor. That Schema has tables such as: sap_dblocks, sap_mon_para, sap_perfcntr, etc.
Part of what I'm trying to understand is do we still have and ABAP stack, or because of the DAA instance, is this now considered an ABAP+Java stack?
Our method in the past for system copy was to backup and restore the prod database to the sandbox, then run the saptools to complete the system copy. The last time we attempted a system copy after the upgrade we were unable to complete.
Oddly (to me anyway) the database for the TS1 instance does not have the second schema in it. Tho I know that is completely replace by doing the restore of the prod database (which does have both schemas), it seems there may be something different with the currently installed sandbox and production instances as well.
My apologies if this is a bit rambling or doesn't quite make sense. I'm working on trying to make sense of the landscape now and very likely am missing or unable to articulate the question completely.
My base question, do we have and ABAP or an ABAP+Java stack still stands as the starting point to my investigations tho.
Thanks
